Group Therapy for Carers

Anxiety Solutions CBT Psychology Practice runs groups for carers to assist:

  • Carers who are emotionally exhausted.
  • Carers who are physically drained.
  • Carers who have put their life on hold to care for a loved one.
  • Carers who need a safe, open space to share their experiences in a supportive environment.
  • Carers who are struggling to be seen as an individual with their own identity.
  • Carers who are time poor.

What topics will be covered?

  • Week 1: Why is it so hard saying no?
  • Week 2: What if I can’t fix the situation?
  • Week 3: Am I being selfish if I take time out for myself.
  • Week 4: What do we do when we feel like we have lost our freedom?

What is the commitment?

  • Your commitment is to attend all 4 group sessions which will be held every fortnight over Zoom.

Why your commitment is so important?

As we all know “change doesn’t happen overnight”.

  • To maximise the outcome.
  • To ensure it is a meaningful investment of your time and money.
  • To reduce anxiety and stress levels over time.
  • To easily utilise the tools to help with the difficult moments.

Practice and repetition is the key! By taking notice of the changes you experience, you will feel motivated to keep using the tools you have learnt through the course.

Who is eligible?

Any person caring for someone else, whether it be a family member, friend or patient.

What is the makeup of the group?

The group will consist of a maximum of 10 people. The groups will be kept small so every participant will receive adequate attention and will have enough time to contribute and learn.

What are the benefits of doing the course?

  • Carers are reminded that they don’t need to face their hurdles alone.
  • Carers can feel freer by releasing pent up emotions such as sadness, guilt, anger, regret and grief.
  • Carers learn to set boundaries.
  • Carers are able to commit to self-care without guilt.
  • Carers will feel less alone as they realise other carers are going through the same things.
  • Carers are able to share information in a safe space.

How long does the course run for?

8 weeks. There are 4 sessions which are held fortnightly.

What is my investment?

$60 per group session.

Payment options:

  • Credit card
  • Afterpay

Is the group face-to-face?

We are currently only offering this training online. The training for carers works well on zoom. Wherever you are, you can benefit from our training.
