Interpersonal Therapy and Short-Term Dynamic Therapy
Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is less well known than CBT but also been proven to be effective.
The focus of IPT is on expressing emotion and looking for solutions in a focused way. Medicare Australia recognises and gives rebates for this modality.
Short-Term Dynamic Therapy
Short-Term Dynamic Therapy works with unconscious processes.
For one, the transference relationship between therapist and client is examined. Second, the history of the client is discussed at length and seen to influence the present situation.
The aim of this type of therapy is to make unconscious thoughts conscious, thereby gaining insight which promotes growth.
